I had been playing on Medium textures forever and last night tried on High. Holy cow, its a HUGE visual difference. All of a sudden my Bloodflow spell was summoning a bear over my head. Do whatever you can to get the settings up to High, even if other things like shadows or viewranges needs to come down.
