PERFORMANCE RECAP
1) If you dont have an 8800 or better card get one... they are cheap and offer some of the best.
2) If you dont ahve > 2 gigs of memory you will have memory problems in this game. This game will consume 1.5-1.9 gigs of memory just by itself. There are lots of options to get over 2 gigs and memory is cheap.
- Kane is using a 3g option for XP
- I am using Vista 64bit and 4 gigs of ram
3) This last component basically turns your computer into a giant CONAN only computer. The below poster is stopping everything and giving Conan 100% of all CPU's. That said there is a shit-ton of threads about this improving performance. The key is the change to the AgeOfConan.exe affinity (note this seems to work more for multi-core computers)

I found this temporary fix on the VN Boards:

1)now first thing you will want to do is hit and press ctrl+alt+del and end all processes you are not using( i know i know you heard this before but i am restating this), while you are still in it you will want to then end the process called explorer.exe (this is your desk, and i advise that you have the the conan patcher already open before you do this).
2) while in task manager click on file and hit run-> browse -> my computer (dont open it) right click on the icon ->properties->advance system settings, then you should see performace and click on settings of that, then check the box that says adjust for best performance, (you screen should go gray and a box come up saying please wait) after that is finish everything will look like you are running windows ME or something.
3) click play on the patcher then alt tab back to task man. right click on the age of conan.exe process set prioty to high or above normal ( i did not try real time) set affanity to only 1 processer ( i set it to cpu 0).
Thats about it but some quick notes run in fullscreen and if you are using a laptop and you do not have the forceware 169.21 driver update you might need ot alt tab out of AoC and minamize it to click no on the pop-up box warning about not having the right driver. For all the people who are going to post "oh if oyu have to do all of this just to get a game running smoothly then it is not worth it" please do not post, this thread is meant to help people play the open beta more smoothly, especially those who do not know how the game really plays in the close beta.
