I'd be the first to say Darkfall would never release but it looks like they may be getting everything together after many years. We will be following this game and Warhammer closely over the next months and see how things progress. On to the good stuff. Now if only we could get into the beta.
Darkfall Info: The clan beta will likely be a stage of public beta. The announcement of launch within the year is an official company commitment and it’s not a guestimate. We’re making strides with publishing in the direction where we maintain full creative control on the game.
A couple of things that have us excited: The Darkfall world has been up in its entirety and seeing it all together we have to say that it’s a truly massive world, it’s larger than some countries. You can spend many hours just running through it, and there are so many amazing locations to explore. There's a focus on optimizing our massive battles capability; we want them to run as smoothly as possible with as many players as possible. We’ve been simulating massive battles and sieges with more than two hundred characters and getting a good 30-60 fps on average machines so far. Under normal loads we typically get over 150 fps and there are still several optimizations to be made so we expect these figures to improve quite a bit.

Don't care what ppl say, if the first vid in this news post doesn't make you wanna play the game, then you should just stop trying to call yourself a pvper/pker.
I just really hope this comes out...and sometime in the near future. Thank god for a game thats willing to be purely skill based...thank god for freedom to fight anyone anywhere...

This one is going to be quite a bit different from MMO fare of late- I think the WoW kiddies will have troubles. No health bars, no floating names, no floating damage, collision detection (AoC got this one right) and most interestingly AoEs wll damage both friend and foe.
Im also really excited about character skill system and different schools of magic. I'm looking forward to people racing to develop unique templates, then counters to templates, etc. Of course you won't be able to tell who can do what by clicking on them...
My biggest concern is the zerg mentality that I'm afraid is going to develop. We have seen what has happened on Deathwhisper with LOTDs approach to trying to hang. What is going to happen in a world with no zoning and 10,000 players and half try to run to one corner of the map?
The only thing I dont like about Darkfall has been there concentration on having a massive world. Every MMO that claims we have xxx square miles more than the last game has been the same. You wander around for hours trying to find ppl =\. AoC is to small, AC was to big. Need a good medium!
