After the original Far Cry and Crysis, I was ready for a lag fest in a single player game but Far Cry 2 surprised me. With the same machine that lagged with Crysis, Far Cry 2 ran smooth as can be. I only jerked once in the entire time I played and that was probably because Norton kicked in. It's visually stunning to say the least. Sorry I didn't convert the files to jpg but whatever, suffer the extra 3 seconds load.
This is a pic of me being a Pyro, you can set fires just about anywhere and depending on the area (dry climate etc) the fires can spread very quickly. The grass burns away, buildings sometimes get reduces to burnt lumber, and leaves disapear too as shit burns. I used this a couple times just for fun, creating a fire upwind just to see a bunch of enemies burn in the rapidly spreading brush fire. Pretty cool!
Here is something I found funny, every vehicle from dune buggies to old boats have some advanced GPS guiding shit, kinda odd to say the least!
Anyway as for the game, it's overall pretty fun. Unlike in Crysis, the enemies don't see you from 2 miles away in the middle of the night so it is possible to sneak around somewhat. On the other hand, if you shoot someone with a silenced mp5 100 yards away from anyone, everyone from the camp will run out and look around. They won't see you if your hiding but thats a little annoying. The biggist problem with the game is that everyone fucking shoots at you, no matter what. There are "scouts" i guess you could say driving around the roads, usually in assault trucks with machine guns etc attached but your come across guy's in some 2 door car and he will follow you until you kill 'em or lose 'em.
Doing missions for me ended up being me figuring out the least annoying way to get there with all of the random "scouts" and the 10 billion outposts on the roads. It doesn't matter if you kill everyone in an outpost, they will be back and oblivious to the 10 bodies scattered around 5 minutes later. I generally used the Bus as much as possible, and whenever i could I used the rivers because at least there people didn't follow you.
The AI isn't horrible, better than most games but still easily exploitable. If you want the easy way, just charge into an objective and find a brick house. Just chill in there shooting out the door every once and awhile and eventually every single person in a 500m radius will be dead, they love doing weird jap kamikazi shit. The AI will charge headlong into anything that makes a noise, you can set up traps etc but I found it to be to tedious and just ran with the run-and-gun until everyone was dead. Oh yeah, also while your doing objectives to kill people, dont automatically go up and kill 'em. If you walk up to someone your supposed to kill and they start saying shit, hit escape and take a look at your goals. Sometimes you have the choice of going back to the person who told you to kill that person and wack them. Some jew only gave me 25 diamonds to kill someone when everyone else was giving me 30-40 so I decide he wasn't going to live long...
I'd say this was a B game, little to no single player replayability, the multi might be pretty fun with the 30 or 40 different weapons (very cool) but I *couldnt* play multi =p. I won't spoil the ending but I sure wasn't happy about it, Meir is all about the wtfpwnage, but not at my expense. I had to reload my game and take the 2nd choice and I still wasnt sure if... well anyway. One thing I really want to see in games like these is people getting their heads and body parts blown off, I'm sadface until I can get another game like that with graphics like Far Cry! Go play it, possibly worth the money to buy. One last comment, Fuck Malaria, fuck ugly hoes, and fuck your buddies.
